Yasaka Shrine sits at the end of Kawaramachi Street in Gion, Kyoto, and has a vermilion gate and main hall. It enshrines Susanoo-no-Mikoto and hosts the annual Gion Matsuri. In the evening lanterns are lit and stalls selling takoyaki, chicken skewers and yakisoba set up inside the shrine grounds. Visitors coming from Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka add to the crowds in the precinct.
