Gion Shirakawa in Kyoto is a sightseeing spot where a small canal runs alongside traditional wooden houses. At night it becomes a street for quiet walks along the waterway, lit by street lamps and stone bridges. Cafes, restaurants, and small shops selling accessories cluster nearby. Because it is not large, it works less as a destination on its own and more as a walking course to combine with nearby stops.
