Enyuan is a Buddhist temple in the southeastern part of the Kennin-ji grounds in Kyoto. Its dry garden depicts the transmission of Buddhism from India through China to Japan, and it includes stone arrangements of a crane and a turtle. A dragon is painted on the ceiling, and visitors can serve themselves warm tea in a tatami room, with reception until 2:30 p.m. The temple is normally closed to the public and can be viewed only during the special opening in May and June when green maple leaves are out.
