Daiunin is a Jodo sect temple in the Gion area of Kyoto, dedicated to the memorials of Oda Nobunaga and his son Nobutada. A 36-meter Gionkaku tower modeled on the yamahoko floats of the Gion Matsuri rises on the grounds, and the temple is also called Higashikaku. The temple is normally closed to the public, and during special opening periods visitors enter the main hall and the Gionkaku, where the top offers views of central Kyoto and the surrounding mountains. Photography is not allowed inside the Gionkaku or at its top.
