St James's Park Lake sits in central London near Buckingham Palace. Ducks, swans, pigeons and squirrels gather along the water, and from the bridge you can see the London Eye at night along with the sunset. Gas lamps maintained in the traditional style stand throughout the park, and a subway station is close by. At night it gets fairly dark, so staying alone late can be frightening.
