Okochi Sanso Garden

Okoshi Sanso Garden is a privately owned garden reached from the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove path in Kyoto. Denjiro Okoshi tended it along with a private villa, and from the top you look down over the Arashiyama area, the Hozu River and the peaks. The viewing route runs in one direction and you follow the markers down, with a self-service bar at the entrance and exit where green tea, lemon water and Calpis are free to drink. The mountain restroom is kept clean, and the admission fee can feel higher than at nearby sites.
