Senpukurin-ji is a small Buddhist temple in Kyoto, reached by walking about five minutes from a side path by Niwaji, between Niwaji and Ryoan-ji. Past the white bell tower gate, the main hall holds the Omuro Daibutsu, a seated Amida Buddha about 7.5 meters tall, along with a large wooden fish, and photography is allowed inside the main hall. During special openings, the head priest gives explanations in the main hall, and the Great Nirvana painting measures 490 cm wide by 530 cm tall. It is normally closed to the public, so visitors must call before visiting to check whether it is open.
