The Saigo Takamori Statue stands in Ueno Park in Tokyo. It depicts Saigo Takamori, one of the three great figures of the Meiji Restoration, who advocated the Seikanron. The statue is directly in front of Keisei-Ueno Station, and benches around it are used by children to play or rest. During cherry blossom season the area is crowded even on weekdays, and for tourists the statue is only a checkpoint to see.
