Shinobazu no Ike

Shinobazunoike Henten-do is a small Buddhist temple on Bentenjima, an island in Shinobazu Pond inside Ueno Park. Lotus flowers spread widely around the pond and incense burns at the temple, and a visit does not take long. Tenkai Daisojo, who founded Kaneiji, built Bentenjima to resemble Chikubu Island in Lake Biwa, and the current hall was rebuilt in 1958. The hall is small, so there is little to see at length.
