Bukdongjeokdae is a defensive structure of Suwon Hwaseong that remains east of Janganmun. It was a position for watching and attacking enemies approaching the gate, and cannons and artillery pieces are placed there. The inner side was built to the same height as the fortress wall, and the outer side has a long vertical embrasure. It served as a military deployment area guarding Janganmun.
