Shugakuin Imperial Villa

Shugakuin Rikyu is a historic villa managed by the Japanese imperial household, about 1 km from the Shugakuin bus stop in Kyoto. Entry is by reservation, and visitors walk through gardens with a lake, bridges, and rice fields. Passports and reservation confirmation emails are checked at entry, and visitors can wait in the visitor room before the tour. The tour route is about 4 km, with long walking sections that are not suitable for people with leg discomfort.
