Shisen-do is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto that takes almost an hour by bus from Kyoto Station. It is a small, quiet space centered on a garden made by a literary poet. On weekday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm there are few visitors, and you can sit on the veranda and look at the garden. The inner garden is viewed by walking around it in the slippers provided, and the entrance is on the right at the start of the uphill path with no separate sign, making it hard to find.
