Shigemori Mirei Garden Museum is a small garden museum near the approach to Yoshida Shrine in Kyoto, showing Mirei Shigemori's garden and tea house. The garden he arranged himself combines a modern karesansui of tall standing stones with a tea house that has lattice sliding doors. Advance reservations on the website allow a small group to tour the garden with commentary from the director at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m., and photographs may be taken only of the outer garden. The area open to the public is limited and the scale is small, so it feels modest to those expecting a museum.
