Kifune Shrine is a subsidiary shrine of Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto and sits directly beside the main hall of Kawai Shrine, where it enshrines a water deity. It honors Takaokami, the water deity of the source of the Kamo River, and prayers are offered for water supply, flood control, rising fortune, matchmaking, and the fulfillment of wishes. The building is in the yukō style with a single bay between the front pillars and is covered with a Japanese cypress bark roof. It is a few steps smaller than the main hall of Kawai Shrine, giving it a compact scale.
