Dannō Hōrin-ji Temple

Jogyang-san Zendan Oen Fumyo Horin-ji is a Jodo sect temple in Kyoto where visitors can see a black lucky cat and cat-motif goshuin. It sits by the Kamo River east of Sanjo Ohashi, reachable directly from Sanjo Station, and enshrines Shuzu-shin, who guards the night and prevents fire and nightmares, with a black cat as its messenger. Inside the grounds, the office accepts cash for one goshuin per person from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The grounds are small and a nursery is next door, so visitors should respect the children's privacy.
