Kawazu-zakura (Sanjō Ōhashi West Side)

Kawazu-zakura bloom early along the Kamo River below Sanjo Ohashi, on the west side of the bridge in Kyoto. The deep pink flowers open against the river and the bridge, forming a scene typical of Kyoto. These are among the earliest cherry blossoms to open in central Kyoto, and the flowers can be viewed at night as well. Only a few trees stand there, so the scale is small.
