Ryoanji is a Buddhist temple a 10-minute walk from Ryōan-ji Station in Kyoto. Its central feature is a karesansui garden of white gravel and stones, roughly 25 meters wide and 10 meters deep, with 15 moss-covered rocks arranged so that only 14 are visible from any angle. Tickets received at the entrance booth are submitted at the stone garden building, and a model garden made for describing the garden to blind visitors may be touched by hand. The pond and walking paths are known for a scene in which leaves of several colors appear together even in early winter.
