Fushimi Inari Taisha

Fushimi Inari Shrine sits directly in front of Inari Station in Kyoto, with red torii gates lining the mountain path. Visitors pass thousands of senbon torii and fox statues, and can look at omamori and ema along the way. There is no admission fee and the grounds are open 24 hours, with a round trip to the summit taking under three hours. After 9 a.m., the entrance area is very crowded with tourists and students.
