Kitano Tenmangu is a large shrine in a residential part of Kyoto, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. Before visiting Kinkakuji, you can see plum blossoms and autumn leaves, and on the 25th of each month there is a flea market. The Plum Festival is held every year on February 25, and during the autumn light-up, warm tea and a sweet potato paste snack are included in the admission fee. Online tickets require a Japanese phone number, so buying on site is easier.
