Shitennoji Honbo in Tennoji, Osaka is a site where visitors see a Japanese Buddhist temple together with a Japanese garden. It has a strolling garden that follows a pond and a Japanese rock garden, and inside the garden there is a tea house serving green tea and manju. The temple was founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku and is the first Buddhist temple in Japan, with a sign reading "Dai Nihon Bukkyo Saishochi" next to the west gate. Entry to the grounds is free, but the garden and other areas charge admission, and photography is prohibited in some indoor areas.
