Hassoan is an old Japanese-style teahouse inside the Japanese garden at Nakajimakoen Park in Sapporo. The wooden building has eight windows, matching its name, and is designated a national Important Cultural Property. It was originally built at Komuro Castle in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, moved several times, relocated to Sapporo in 1919, and donated to the city of Sapporo in 1971. In winter the interior is closed to visitors, so it can only be viewed from outside.
