Sushi Oku serves Edomae sushi omakase in the back of a former Scarr's Pizza space on the Lower East Side in New York. The 17-course omakase uses fish from Japan and house-made pickled ginger, with each piece of fish matched to specific seasonings and balanced sushi rice. A small sake bar sits at the front, and the omakase area in the back plays hip-hop and R&B during meals. The intimate room, converted from the old Scarr's Pizza space, combines the atmospheres of New York and Tokyo.
