Yamafuku

Agotsuyu Shabu-shabu Yamafuku is a reservation-only restaurant in a Pontocho alley in Kyoto that serves pork and beef shabu-shabu courses. Diners cook thin slices of meat with spinach, lettuce, and tofu in a broth of flying fish dashi mixed with soy milk, and the meal ends with ramen and matcha ice cream. Reservations are often the only way in, and staff usually explain the menu and how to eat in English. The portions of meat and vegetables are small.
