Shindongyang is an old Chinese restaurant near Iksan Station that serves mul jjajang and white pepper jjamppong. The white pepper jjamppong has a clear, spicy broth with plenty of cheongyang peppers, onion, pork, and squid, while the mul jjajang is noodles mixed with a sauce between jjajang and jjamppong. Opened in 1979 and run by a Chinese-Korean family, it fills up around lunchtime and food comes out within about 10 minutes of ordering. The tangsuyuk is served with the sauce already poured on, so the fried batter can be soggy or overcooked.
