Moiwayama Observatory sits on Mount Moiwa in Sapporo and looks down over the city's daytime and night views. Visitors ride a ropeway and then a cable car to reach the top, where they can see the sunset and the snow-covered Sapporo landscape. A free shuttle runs from the tram, and the trip to the observatory takes two cable car rides. From around sunset into the evening the ascent and descent take more than an hour, and the summit is windy and cold even in summer.
