Hokkaido University Campus sits near Sapporo Station, a flat university space where old buildings and trees stand together. A cafe near the main gate serves milk and ice cream made on site. The campus began as Sapporo Agricultural School, founded in 1876, and holds rows of poplar and ginkgo trees along with Onoike, a pond with wild ducks and lotus. Student cafeterias, Seicomart, a souvenir shop, and museums are also found within the campus.
