Itsukushima

Itsukushima Island is reached by ferry from Miyajimaguchi Station in Hiroshima Prefecture, and visitors come to see the red torii gate and deer. The torii of Itsukushima Shrine appears to float on the sea at high tide, and at low tide people walk up close to it, while the shopping street offers momiji manju and grilled oysters. The walk from Miyajimaguchi Station to the ferry pier takes 5 minutes, the crossing to the island takes about 10 minutes, and Miyajima Aquarium is also on the island. On weekends, foreign tourists and Japanese school trip groups crowd the island.
