Shukkeien is a traditional Japanese garden near Hiroshima Station that compresses several landscapes into one site. Walking past ponds and pavilions, visitors see cherry blossoms and autumn leaves depending on the season, and a full loop takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Almost all of the garden's structures were destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945, and restoration work has continued since 1951. In summer there is little shade inside or outside, so bringing a parasol is necessary.
