The Bridge of Sighs is a white marble arched bridge in Venice that connects Doge's Palace to the Prigioni prison. It takes its name from prisoners who sighed while looking out its windows as they were moved to the prison after sentencing, and Casanova was also held in this prison. Walking from Doge's Palace across to the prison section, visitors see the San Marco sea through small windows along a narrow, dark passage. Right after lunchtime, crowds of people taking photos make the viewing space cramped.
