Santa Maria della Salute stands where the Grand Canal meets the San Marco basin, a Baroque church built in the 17th century. Its white dome and silhouette appearing to float on the water are the defining view from the San Marco square side, and water bus lines 1 and 2 run to the church. From the church, visitors can look toward San Marco square, and can continue on to St Mark's Basilica or the Doge's Palace. The dome and various parts of the church are currently under construction.
