Ueno Renkon

Ueno Renkon is a Japanese izakaya three minutes on foot from Ueno Station, serving lotus root dishes along with sashimi and chicken. The lotus root appears across cold dishes, fried items, grilled items, and steamed dishes, including mustard lotus root, a fried lotus root and shrimp sandwich, and lotus root scorched rice with crab ankake. The shop occupies a three-story wooden building with counter and partitioned seating, and orders are placed by QR code. Without a reservation, entry is difficult when the shop is full, and seating sometimes runs on a two-hour limit.
