Taipei Main Station sits at the center of Taipei's old city, where trains, high-speed rail, the metro and buses connect inside one building. The Taoyuan Airport MRT, major metro lines and the Taipei Bus Terminal link through corridors, and the underground shopping area holds restaurants and stores. The station opened in 1891 and moved to its current site in 1901, and the central hall opens to a ceiling close to ten stories high. Corridors and exits overlap, making the station hard to navigate for first-time visitors.
