Bookstore Street

Near Taipei Station, Shudian Jie is a book district where you can find old books, reference books, and Taiwanese publications. Large bookstores and shops that also sell stationery remain, so you can compare traditional Chinese books across several places. It was Taiwan's first bookstore street, once home to more than 100 bookstores and publishers, and around 10 remain today. The number of bookstores has declined and many spots have turned into hotels and restaurants, so it is no longer the bookstore street it once was.
