Gutungi is a small grill house inside Syarosu-gil in Seoul, between Seoul National University Station and Nakseongdae Station, where beef and pork jowl are cooked over charcoal. Thick-cut meat is grilled over charcoal and paired with soju. The tables are packed closely together, so the restaurant fills quickly. When the charcoal flames rise, the owner comes out to show diners how to control the heat and grill the meat.
