The 104 Gogji Battle Monument in Yeonhui-dong's back mountain honors Yeonhui Gogji, which the Marine Corps retook during the Korean War. A single Marine battalion took the North Korean stronghold after heavy fighting, moving toward the recapture of Seoul. It stands high on a low hill along the hiking trail up the back mountain of Yeonhui-dong, and the original monument built in 1950 is down the wooden stairs on the right. Many trees around it make the site poor for sunset photos.
