Yama-gen

Yamagen Soba is a soba restaurant located immediately to the left of the gate of Tenrinji in Kyoto. Its signature dish, nishin soba, pairs salty-sweet herring with a savory broth, and the cold soba comes with grated radish and seaweed. At lunchtime a line forms because of the Tenrinji location, and payment is cash only. The portions tend to be small for an adult man.
