Kichisen

Kyokaiseki Kichisen is a traditional kaiseki restaurant beside Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto, serving seasonal courses. Cold and warm dishes arrive in sequence, and lunch runs through more than ten courses over two hours. The chef explains how to eat each dish, and entry to a small private room is through a hidden side door. No staff speak English, so detailed explanations of the food are limited.
