Hyotei is a kaiseki restaurant at the entrance of Nanzenji in Kyoto, with a tradition of 400 years. Its asagayu consists of white porridge and a soft-boiled egg, and at lunch a bento set containing the evening kaiseki dishes is served. Meal times are set separately for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and reservations are required. Reservations for each time slot are full, so it is difficult to dine for more than an hour at leisure.
