Nara Park

Nara Park is a large park in Nara where deer roam freely, and they can be seen a short walk from the train station. If you hold a senbei, the deer follow you and may bow their heads in greeting. Deer are numerous throughout the park even early in the morning and wander freely onto the roads. Deer droppings are common on the paths and sidewalks, so be careful with new shoes.
