Kasuga Taisha is a shrine in the forest of Nara Park, founded in 768, where deer roam the grounds. Stone lanterns line the approach and bronze lanterns stand around the main hall, forming rows of lights. It can be visited together with Todai-ji and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Interior construction sometimes prevents entry inside, leaving only the exterior visible.
