Kyoto City Hall

Kyoto City Hall sits directly connected to the underground shopping arcade at Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station, and its main building faces a wide tiled plaza. Completed in 1927, the main building has a heavy, authoritative exterior with sharp lines. On weekends, a market selling local goods and food opens in the plaza in front, along with small exhibitions and events. The rooftop has benches and flower beds, but in summer there is not enough shade to escape the sun.
