Nihonryori Yano is a Kyoto restaurant near Marutamachi Station that serves Kyoto-style kaiseki and seasonal Japanese cuisine. The kitchen changes its Kyoto vegetables, fish, and meat with the seasons, and serves Tango Peninsula crab, house-made karasumi, and rice cooked in a kuri pot. The building is a converted machiya over 100 years old, with private rooms that look onto a garden and counter seats. The chef and sommelier explain the menu in English, and at lunch a white miso curry is available with advance reservation.
