Shohinken Garden is a small tea garden in Kumamoto established by the Matsui family. In late May, irises and lotus flowers bloom, the moss is thick, and visitors can buy food to feed the carp. A full loop takes under 30 minutes, there are two shrines inside the garden, and goshuin can be purchased at the reception desk. Paths turn muddy when it rains or after rain clears, so shoes that handle mud are needed.
