Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto Castle is a Japanese castle site in the center of Kumamoto. Kato Kiyomasa built the castle, and an entrance path climbs along the castle walls, connecting to surrounding walking trails. Floors 1 to 4 of the castle keep hold historical exhibits by period, and the 6th floor is an observation deck with elevator access. Recovery work from the 2016 earthquake damage is still underway in several areas, so some sections are closed.
