Kobe Harbor Earthquake Memorial Park in Meriken Park preserves traces and explanatory materials from the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Seawater periodically fills the area around the broken ground and tilted streetlights, and part of the former port appearance remains. Viewing takes about 10 to 20 minutes, and information is available through signage and video in multiple languages. Admission is free.
