Nankinmachi is Kobe's Chinatown, where visitors walk past Chinese-style goods shops, restaurants, and street food stalls. Food such as butaman, grilled xiaolongbao, and pho is bought at the shops and eaten in spaces like the central plaza. At night the lanterns are lit and the street becomes brightly decorated, and on weekends or at peak times a long line forms in front of the popular dumpling shops. The area is smaller than expected and similar street food repeats from shop to shop, so there is not much to see.
