Kitano Ijinkan-gai is a street of old Western-style houses on a hill about a 10-minute walk from Sannomiya Station in Kobe. The lanes mix Japanese atmosphere with European-style buildings, and Japan's first Starbucks is located here. Walking the street is free, but viewing the interiors of the buildings requires a paid admission ticket. The hill is steep, so wearing comfortable shoes or using the City Bus is better.
