Tai Cheong Bakery sells Hong Kong-style egg tarts midway along the Central Mid-Levels escalator in Hong Kong. The original has a cookie-like, crumbly tart shell filled with a soft egg custard that is not very sweet, and a puff pastry version is also available. There are times when you can buy one right away with no wait, and a freshly baked tart tastes better eaten warm. The egg flavor is strong.
