Kion Uokeya U is a freshwater eel restaurant in Kyoto that serves eel over rice and eel cooked in a pot with rice. The seasoning is light rather than salty or sweet, and the eel is served boneless and soft. Many customers come with phone reservations, and arriving 30 minutes before opening allows you to receive a reservation ticket, with a choice of miso soup or eel soup.
