Gyeongpodae Beach is on the East Sea coast near Gangneung's Gyeongpo Lake, with a 6km stretch of white sand and open water. A bicycle path and walking areas run along it, and seafood restaurants and coffee shops sit nearby. In summer the beach stays open until 10 p.m., with night lighting and lifeguards on duty. It is a place people visit to watch the sunrise.
